Researchers have found that a breathing rhythm of 5.5 seconds in, 5.5 seconds out synchronizes your heart rate, blood pressure, and autonomic nervous system into a single balanced state. This state is called coherence.

It's the rhythm your body naturally gravitates toward during deep relaxation. Breathlet doesn't teach you something new. It reminds your body of something it already knows.

I am not a guru.

I spent most of my life at a cushy desk job. Decent work, decent paycheck, and underneath it a subtle, constant anxiety I couldn't put my finger on. Yoga got me paying attention to my breath, and I realized how poor mine had become.

Three years later I was in Nepal, seven days into a trek to Everest Base Camp. The night before we reached it, I hit a wall. My blood oxygen dropped, my heart rate climbed, and I couldn't sleep. Lying there defeated, I decided to breathe. In through the nose, deep into the belly, six seconds in and six seconds out. Twenty minutes of coherence breathing later, my nervous system settled and I drifted off. By morning my oxygen was back to normal, higher than our guides' readings, and I made it to Base Camp.

Back home I kept thinking about that night. If breathing could do that at 17,000 feet, what could small, consistent doses do for everyday stress? The research said plenty. But staying consistent was hard, because every tool I found lived on a screen, and the screen was the thing I was trying to step away from.

So I built Breathlet: a bracelet with a light that breathes. You follow the light, and your attention goes somewhere other than your phone. The beaded design is an homage to the people of the Himalayas, who wear this style of bracelet for good luck.

I'm a regular person who found something that helped and got tired of there being no simple way to do it. So I left the safe path and started building one.

Do I need an app?

No. Breathlet is completely screen-free. Double tap the Orb to start a session, single tap to switch between protocols. That's it. No Bluetooth, no phone required, no app to download.

How does it charge?

Breathlet uses a magnetic charging cradle. Set the bracelet down, the magnets align, and it charges. No cables to plug into the bead, no awkward connectors.

How long does the battery last?

Each session is about two minutes. The battery is designed to last through multiple sessions per day for several days between charges. A red triple-flash lets you know when it's time to recharge.

Is it waterproof?

Breathlet is designed for everyday wear but should be removed before swimming or showering. The natural gemstones and electronics are best kept dry.

What are the three breathing protocols?

Coherence (5.5s in, 5.5s out) for everyday calm and nervous system balance. Box Breathing (4s in, 4s hold, 4s out, 4s hold) for focus and reset. 4-7-8 (4s in, 7s hold, 8s out) with a red light for winding down before sleep.
